Deezer, a global music streaming service with over 35 million tracks, 16 million monthly active users and 6 million paid subscribers, faced a conversion problem: many users downloaded the freemium app but did not upgrade to Premium+ or became inactive after a short time. The freemium experience limited song selection and playlist control, so Deezer needed a way to re-engage dormant users and clearly demonstrate Premium+ value to active freemium users.

Criteo’s in-app solution targeted dormant and active segments with personalized animated creatives, deeplinks to relevant in-app pages, and bids optimized by predicted conversion likelihood and customer value across major exchanges. The campaign doubled in-app conversion versus desktop (+100% CR), drove +96% incremental subscriptions and boosted banner CTR by +203%.
