The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), a 51,000‑member professional medical association, relied heavily on website search to deliver clinical guidelines and research to members and the public, but its incumbent Google Search Appliance repeatedly returned irrelevant results and timed out on large files. With roughly 51,000 documents across multiple sites and half of visitors using search, ASA needed a more relevant, configurable solution that staff could manage to improve member access and engagement.

ASA implemented Coveo for Sitecore, quickly indexing its content, adding a “Top Results” capability and tuning relevance by section, type and year, and activating usage analytics. The switch produced markedly better outcomes — three times more searches per day, a 98% success rate for queries, improved content tagging and member satisfaction — and set the organization up to expand search to social content and drive data‑driven content decisions.
