Case Study: Brookings Institution achieves organized, easily discoverable research and increased user engagement with Coveo

A Coveo Case Study

Preview of the Brookings Case Study

Adding Organization, Customization and Insight to One of America’s Largest Public Policy Research Repositories

The Brookings Institution, a leading U.S. public policy research organization, faced a growing challenge: its Sitecore-based website hosted tens of thousands of diverse documents but its legacy search was a “black box” that couldn’t be customized, couldn’t index many PDFs or multimedia properly, and offered no meaningful refinements by author, topic or geography—making content hard to find for a global audience.

Working with Sitecore partner Velir, Brookings implemented Coveo for Advanced Website Search to index pages, Sitecore fields, PDFs and multimedia in multiple languages, enable taxonomy-based facets and custom ranking (QRE), and surface related items alongside results. The upgrade delivered significantly better navigability and user engagement—more PDF downloads and media access, improved content discovery across the site, and stronger overall access to Brookings’ research.
