The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) designs, constructs and maintains the state’s surface transportation system. Its Office of Professional Development and Training needed to continually train and certify staff but was relying on hundreds of Word and Excel files, making tracking, reporting and communication time-consuming, error-prone and inefficient.
Following a multi-stakeholder RFP process, RIDOT selected Cornerstone Learning to replace its manual systems. The LMS automated reporting and communications, saved significant staff time, enabled external users (consultants, contractors, FHWA) to register, produced data-driven goals and ROI metrics, and increased employee accountability through automated notifications—turning a spreadsheet-driven process into an efficient, scalable training operation.
