Protolabs brings innovative mindset to compliance and competency training

Protolabs, a Minnesota-based digital manufacturing company, needed a faster, more effective way to streamline employee learning, compliance training, and competency development while maintaining the quality and speed that define its business. The company partnered with Cornerstone OnDemand and used Cornerstone Learning to support onboarding, leadership development, and broader online learning initiatives across its global workforce.

Cornerstone OnDemand implemented a highly customizable learning environment that Protolabs rebranded and tailored for its employees, including competency playlists, voluntary skill-building courses, and DEI training. The results were strong: basic compliance training rose from 23% to 90%, course registrations increased 118%, course completions jumped 641%, and monthly unique logins grew from 23% to 65%. Protolabs also logged nearly 33,000 learning hours in 2021, with the curriculum earning a 4.21/5 rating.
