GECU Expands Availability of Online Courses While Reducing Overall Costs with Cornerstone OnDemand

GECU, El Paso’s largest locally owned financial institution with about 700 employees serving nearly 298,000 members, faced the challenge of delivering efficient, compliant employee training as it grew. Historically reliant on instructor-led training and an aging LMS, the credit union needed a scalable, configurable cloud solution to expand online course availability, streamline reporting and compliance, and reduce manpower-intensive processes.

GECU selected Cornerstone OnDemand and rolled out the Cornerstone Learning Cloud (branded internally as ELITE) in 2010 to provide self-service learning and development. The move made 255 courses available online to nearly 40% of employees (with 103 additional native courses), cut incoming training-related calls by about 50%, reduced report compilation time by 75%, and gave managers and staff better control and visibility into training through dashboards—boosting engagement and efficiency.
