A Consumer Goods Technology Case Study
Land O'Lakes, a large agricultural cooperative, faced a significant challenge due to its decentralized structure, which had resulted in an overly complex IT environment with fragmented business processes. This complexity prevented the company from centralizing its operations after a strategic shift. Partnering with vendor Consumer Goods Technology, the company's Dairy Foods unit required a streamlined solution to migrate from four disparate ERP systems to a single, unified platform.
The solution implemented was a business transformation initiative called Project Catalyst, which utilized Oracle's JD Edwards Enterprise One (E1) and Oracle Transportation Management (OTM). With Deloitte Consulting as the systems integrator, Consumer Goods Technology helped Land O'Lakes achieve a phased, on-time and on-budget deployment. The results were significant, including a five-day reduction in days of supply, a 66% reduction in aged inventory, a 4% improvement in truck weight, and major improvements in on-time delivery and order fill rates, achieving its targeted return on investment.
