Conduent implemented its SmartPA automated prior authorization solution to help MO HealthNet automate clinical rules and safety checks at the point of sale. This solution limited opioid doses and durations, prevented doctor shopping, and enforced safety edits. As a result, Conduent helped MO HealthNet achieve a 12% reduction in participants receiving opioid prescriptions and a 25% reduction in the quantity of opioids prescribed in a single year, contributing to a reported 10% reduction in opioid overdose deaths in the state.
