Honolulu County saves up to $3.8 million a year with Conduent's vaccination strategy

Honolulu County, Hawaii, faced a challenge with its pneumonia vaccination rates, which at 68% were far below the national 90% goal; the rate among its Filipino population was even lower at 51%, resulting in approximately $17.1 million in annual hospitalization costs. To address this, the county partnered with vendor Conduent, which utilized its Hot Spot solution to analyze geographic hospitalization data.

Conduent's solution identified specific neighborhoods with high hospitalization rates and large Filipino populations to target community benefit activities. As a result, Honolulu County identified potential cost avoidance of up to $10,500 per hospitalized case and projected annual savings of $3.8 million if the 90% vaccination target is met, effectively improving patient adherence and moving the community toward its goal.
