Sephora, the multinational luxury beauty retailer with 2,700 stores in 35 countries and over $10 billion in turnover, faced a lack of a scalable, unified competitive intelligence approach across multiple markets. The retailer had limited visibility into shelf vs. coupon pricing, competitor advantages, and customer sentiment, and engaged Competera to run a proof of concept and build a solution that could scale across countries.
Competera implemented custom scraping logic and price-monitoring services delivering both shelf and coupon prices, reviews and ratings, and frequency tracking of price changes (up to 20×/day). The POC delivered 97,500 datapoints with 98% match quality and 99% scraping quality; after rollout the scope expanded from 2 to 9 countries covering 17 competitor sites and 4 marketplaces, with monthly delivery of 2,951,627 direct-website datapoints and 633,729 marketplace datapoints within a 98% SLA.
