Case Study: IBM achieves on-time multilingual localisation with Commercial Translation Centre

A Commercial Translation Centre Case Study

Preview of the IBM Case Study

IBM delivers over half a million words of multilingual web content per year with Commercial Translation Centre

Commercial Translation Centre (CTC) was engaged by IBM to translate and localize content for its "Know Your IBM" program, a multilingual marketing and e-learning website for its global network of resellers. The challenge involved translating over half a million words annually, including both catchy promotional sales copy and complex technical e-learning modules, while navigating a complex approval process with local country representatives.

CTC implemented a solution involving translation, localization, and in-context reviews of web pages in numerous languages. They utilized translation memory databases to maintain terminology consistency, though these were less effective for sales content that was heavily adapted per region. Despite unresolved issues with acquiring previous translation memories, CTC successfully delivered the project on time and to the client's satisfaction, enabling IBM to effectively launch its global rewards program.
