Orbia Wavin, the Building & Infrastructure arm of Orbia serving 80+ countries, needed to rapidly digitize complex B2B commerce during COVID-19 to meet evolving buyer expectations and integrate systems from multiple mergers (seven ERPs). To address this, Orbia Wavin chose commercetools and its Composable Commerce for B2B as a flexible, cloud-native, API-first platform to pilot online sales while preserving the ability to scale and integrate existing systems.
commercetools delivered an API-driven, composable stack that enabled an eight-month pilot webshop and the rollout of 35 localized webshops (about 1.5 per month), digitized the product catalog as a single source of truth, and implemented streamlined cart and checkout flows while integrating Contentstack, Akeneo (in progress) and Google Cloud. The result for Orbia Wavin was 24/7 self-service, real-time order visibility and a nine‑digit turnover from digital channels in 2023, achieved with relatively low internal development investment.
