John Lewis & Partners, the UK high-end department store group replatforming johnlewis.com (including basket and checkout), needed a more flexible commerce solution to adapt to changing consumer behavior and deliver customized omnichannel journeys. Working with Deloitte Digital, the retailer selected commercetools for its API-first, microservices-led cloud commerce platform to replace legacy systems and support faster digital innovation.
commercetools implemented a scalable, cloud-native solution—providing PIM, a Merchant Center and low-cost experimentation capabilities—that enabled John Lewis & Partners to migrate off Oracle ATG and begin live orders in February 2022. The results were measurable: a product ingest that previously took Oracle ATG days completed in 15 minutes on commercetools, and the platform now lets the retailer rapidly customize customer journeys and accelerate new digital propositions.
