Case Study: 66°North achieves scalability and time & cost savings with commercetools

A commercetools Case Study

Preview of the 66°North Case Study

How 66°North moved to a flexible, microservices-based architecture that saves time and money

66°North, the Icelandic outdoor clothing brand serving customers and rescue teams across 33 markets, needed a flexible commerce platform to scale and iterate without being constrained by a monolithic system. To address this, 66°North selected commercetools’ cloud-native, headless commerce platform — including a microservices-based architecture and PIM capabilities — to enable phased global rollout and greater agility.

commercetools led a migration that began in early 2020 and launched in September 2020 (completed remotely due to COVID-19), replacing the legacy monolith with a 100% headless, microservices solution integrated with Checkout.com. The new architecture has delivered real-time inventory/pricing updates, saved time and money in eCommerce operations, expanded design options, sharpened focus on the shopping experience, and driven early positive sales development.
