A commercetools Case Study

eCommerce like an excellent Cuvée – a matter of the combination

Flaschenpost, Switzerland’s largest online B2C wine retailer (about 30,000 wines and ~100,000 customers), faced a scaling problem: its Magento-based, monolithic shop had become costly, slow and complex to extend. To modernize, Flaschenpost partnered with commercetools as the cloud-native, MACH-based commerce platform and Frontastic for frontend management to move to a headless architecture.

commercetools and Frontastic were deployed alongside an ERP/PIM connected via an AWS message broker, plus a personalization engine and microservices-driven features like the Winefinder. The new commercetools-based, infinitely scalable solution reduced architecture complexity, fits the existing tech team’s skill set, enables faster time-to-market for experiments and features, and supports ongoing growth across Flaschenpost’s 30,000 SKUs and ~100,000 customers.
