Corona shutdown opens up new Commerce possibilities

Mission Linen Supply, a family‑owned provider of linen rental, uniforms and facility supplies, needed to modernize digital commerce and rapidly add products and new business models as COVID‑19 disrupted its traditional B2B routes. To accelerate D2C and B2C channels and scale product catalogs, Mission Linen Supply partnered with commercetools and its headless, API‑first commerce platform (including PIM capabilities).

Using commercetools, Mission Linen Supply added hundreds of products including PPE, masks and hygiene items, stood up a B2B BuyDirect.com site (May 2020) and launched a B2C OneLessTrip.com site (Dec 2020), and expanded catalog capacity to roughly 15,000 products on the B2B site. The commercetools implementation enabled a B2C site launch in just six weeks, two new sites within a year, increased revenue per stop from direct sales, and generated new online revenue streams that helped the company weather the pandemic.
