Bründl Sports E-Commerce at the summit Premium Sports equipment and rentals

Bründl Sports, Austria’s largest ski rental and sports retailer with 30 stores and 550 employees, set out to create its own brand identity and a seamless omnichannel rental experience after splitting from INTERSPORT. To meet rising customer expectations for online booking and in-store touchpoints, the company — advised by digital agency Pixelart — selected commercetools and its headless, API-first commerce platform as the core technology for the new online rental service.

Using commercetools, Pixelart and Bründl Sports built a modular, cloud-native rental platform in 12 months, integrating CMS, merchandise management, POS and ski-depot touchpoints via APIs. The solution handled peak demand (e.g., 800 customers served from one store in hours and several thousand pairs of skis concurrently), supported rapid automated cancellations during COVID, and generated over 6,000 online ratings in the first winter — outperforming cautious first‑year projections by 25% and delivering a scalable foundation for future growth.
