Cognizant partnered with a major credit card issuer to solve a friction point in mobile payments: customers who wanted to use Android Pay had to download the app and follow multiple complex steps to link their credit card. The company wanted a seamless way for users to add their card to Android Pay directly from its own mobile app.

Working with Google and the card issuer, Cognizant built an “in‑app provisioning” solution that automatically adds a customer’s card to Android Pay with a single tap. Conceived, prototyped and implemented using an agile approach in 10 months (prototype in under three), the solution drove a 170% month‑over‑month increase in card provisioning, boosted transaction volume and market penetration, and improved the speed, safety and convenience of phone‑based payments.
