A Cognizant Case Study

Preview of the AXA UK & Ireland Case Study

AXA UK & Ireland monitors 300 IT platforms and 180 work orders with Cognizant

AXA UK & Ireland, a leading UK insurer, faced the challenge of measuring and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its large and diverse IT estate to meet its net zero 2050 goal. They lacked a robust framework to monitor Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions in detail. To address this, they engaged their managed services partner, Cognizant, to implement a solution that included a carbon accounting model and a Delivery Carbon Footprint Calculator.

Cognizant developed a standards-compliant carbon accounting model that provided a baseline of 1,500 tCO2e per year and enabled continuous monitoring of 300 IT platforms. Their proprietary Delivery Carbon Footprint Calculator also assessed the GHG impact of 180 managed service work orders. This solution gave AXA granular, actionable data to inform its sustainability strategy and procurement decisions, setting a new standard for emissions reporting in the insurance industry.
