A CloudHealth Technologies Case Study
EE, the UK’s largest 4G network provider, needed to ensure infrastructure capacity for normal and peak traffic while streamlining cloud operations. The team identified inefficiencies in EC2 and RDS usage—manual Reserved Instance (RI) management across multiple accounts and availability zones was time-consuming—and had to manage more than 2,000 EC2 instances and many AWS accounts.
EE adopted CloudHealth to identify underutilized instances, automate RI purchases and governance, and set policies and alerts (for orphaned EBS volumes, elastic IPs, cost thresholds, etc.). The platform removed manual calculations, boosted visibility with minimal effort, and delivered measurable savings: at least a week of manpower every six months plus about half a day per week from automated RI management.
