Zopim, an award-winning cloud-based live chat platform, faced a challenge scaling its service to a global user base. With servers only located in the U.S., international customers experienced slower loading times for their chat widget, which was critical to their user experience. To address this performance issue, Zopim turned to Cloudflare and its Content Delivery Network (CDN) service.
By utilizing Cloudflare's CDN to cache and serve static content, Zopim dramatically improved its widget load time. Cloudflare accelerated the byte load and reduced the widget loading time by at least 50%, a significant improvement felt by their customers. This also cut requests to Zopim's origin server by half, allowing them to scale rapidly while saving thousands of dollars a month on bandwidth costs.
