Zipair, a low-cost carrier subsidiary of Japan Airlines, faced a significant challenge with bot and scraper traffic overwhelming its booking site. This malicious activity, which accounted for up to 90% of traffic for some flights, caused server instability and page failures. To protect its booking revenue and customer experience, Zipair turned to Cloudflare to implement its Bot Management, Web Application Firewall (WAF), and CDN services.

By deploying Cloudflare's solutions, Zipair gained critical visibility and control to block malicious traffic. The results were substantial: Cloudflare detected and blocked 26% more bot requests than the previous provider and reduced origin-bound requests by ~10%. This improved server response time by ~20% and allowed the CDN to serve ~70% of booking page requests from the edge.
