Case Study: Umbraco achieves 43% faster page loads and edge‑powered site customization with Cloudflare

A Cloudflare Case Study

Preview of the Umbraco Case Study

Umbraco uses Cloudflare Workers and performance tools to optimize their CMS platform

Umbraco, the world’s largest .NET-based content management platform (hosting 10,000+ domains and supported by a 220,000-strong developer community), moved from a long-standing open-source model to a hosted Umbraco Cloud service. To succeed as a cloud offering it needed fast page loads, API rate-limiting and bot protection for its headless features, a unified entry point for customers managing multiple sites, and automated HTTPS/certificate management.

Umbraco adopted Cloudflare to deliver those capabilities: Cloudflare Workers provides edge serverless logic for authentication, image processing and per-site feature flags (Workers KV), while Argo Smart Routing optimizes network paths and Cloudflare SSL for SaaS automates certificates. The outcome: site-specific customization with no performance penalty, a 43% improvement in network latency, automated cert creation/renewal, stronger DDoS/HTTPS protections, and a simpler, faster experience for developers and customers.
