A Cloudflare Case Study
SplitmediaLabs, a Hong Kong–based developer of live‑streaming and recording tools used by more than 8 million creators, gamers and businesses, faced rising costs and performance demands while defending its XSplit platform from frequent DDoS, SQL injection and XSS attacks. Early attempts with ModSecurity and StackPath didn’t meet their needs, and the team needed a solution that would control bandwidth and infrastructure costs without sacrificing speed or security.
They adopted Cloudflare’s CDN, fast DNS, WAF, rate limiting and one‑click TLS to accelerate delivery, block common web attacks and protect against DDoS and abusive traffic. The move delivered immediate savings (about 50 TB of bandwidth in the first month) and roughly 30% faster response times outside North America, while simplifying security and cost management across development and production environments.
