RTE, Ireland’s national public-service broadcaster and most-trusted news source, needed to ensure continuous, accurate delivery of TV, radio and online news amid a growing threat of DDoS and other online attacks — especially during a year of major events. With limited in-house capacity to absorb escalating attacks and public reliance on its services, RTE sought a solution that would protect its reputation and keep its sites online 24/7.

RTE chose Cloudflare for its feature-rich, easy-to-deploy and affordable security services. Cloudflare provided instant, incremental protections (including HTTP/2 and end-to-end TLS) without changes to RTE’s infrastructure, simple rule management for staff, and the ability to rapidly scale defenses. Since signing up RTE has not experienced a DDoS outage, and gains confidence that public-facing services will remain available while enjoying reduced infrastructure overhead and improved user experience.
