Case Study: PayNet achieves secure, scalable, always-on payments infrastructure with Cloudflare

A Cloudflare Case Study

Preview of the PayNet Case Study

PayNet transitions to a cloud-based computing model to further its mission of making electronic payments more accessible in Malaysia

Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) is the operator of Malaysia’s shared payments and market infrastructures, running services such as the MyDebit card program and DuitNow QR/Transfer to broaden electronic payments nationwide. As PayNet moved from legacy mainframe and private bank connections to cloud-based APIs, it needed a modern Zero Trust security model, scalable DDoS protection, and better visibility into web traffic—requirements its legacy WAF and ISP DDoS services could not meet.

PayNet adopted Cloudflare’s suite—Magic Transit (with Magic Firewall), Cloudflare WAF, mTLS and analytics—to secure API traffic, accelerate network performance, and support Zero Trust access. The result: DDoS attacks are mitigated within minutes, automated attacks are blocked, engineers can focus on product development, employees access internal apps securely, and actionable analytics improve capacity planning, compliance reporting, and readiness for expanded e‑commerce services.
