OVO partners with Cloudflare to scale and secure Indonesia’s largest digital wallet

OVO is Indonesia’s largest digital wallet and financial-services app, serving the general population and underbanked users with 115 million installs and acceptance at about 1 million merchants across 426 cities. Rapid growth since 2017 created the dual challenge of scaling capacity while meeting strict Indonesian data-protection requirements and defending against frequent cyberattacks — all without disrupting a service many customers rely on as their primary banking system.

In 2019 OVO partnered with Cloudflare to address performance, security, and compliance: Argo Smart Routing, DDoS protection, WAF, Cloudflare Workers, and Spectrum. Cloudflare now blocks nearly 31 million attacks against OVO each month, cuts page load times by over 50% (369 ms vs 829 ms) with a 28% TTFB improvement, and reduces bandwidth needs by more than 55% for significant cost savings; Workers and Spectrum ensure edge resilience, business continuity, and secure remote access.
