A Cloudflare Case Study
OneTrust is a fast‑growing SaaS company that helps more than 7,500 organizations manage privacy, security, and governance to comply with regulations like GDPR and CCPA. As traffic and product complexity exploded, CTO Blake Brannon found the company’s cloud‑provider native security tools, serverless functions, and VPN‑based access model weren’t scaling: they added latency, high egress and compute costs, and operational complexity that threatened performance and developer velocity.
OneTrust adopted Cloudflare’s stack — including Workers, WAF, Access, SSL for SaaS, Argo, and Rate Limiting — to move custom code to a globally distributed edge, protect traffic, and replace the VPN. The changes halved latency and cut bandwidth/compute costs by 90%, the WAF blocks over 30 million threats monthly and gives granular policy control, Access strengthened security and boosted employee productivity, and Cloudflare’s CDN and services enabled global scale while reducing cloud bills.
