Mount Pleasant Independent School District improves performance and security of web infrastructure and remote learning tools

Mount Pleasant Independent School District (MPISD) is a K–12 district in Northeast Texas serving about 5,400 students across eight schools. During the COVID‑19 shift to remote learning, web traffic surged and the district’s existing infrastructure couldn’t keep up: the WAF was breaking legitimate API calls, SSL certificates for 60 public sites were managed manually, and DNS was controlled by the ISP, leaving MPISD with limited visibility and slow (24–48 hour) incident response.

MPISD moved its external DNS and traffic through Cloudflare, paired its WP Engine hosting with Cloudflare’s services, and deployed Cloudflare’s WAF and automated certificate management. The result was immediate visibility into traffic, faster troubleshooting (minutes instead of days), a WAF rollout in about 20 minutes rather than several days, and measurable improvements in website performance, security, and operational overhead.
