A Cloudflare Case Study
Majal is a Bahrain‑founded non‑profit that amplifies underrepresented voices across the Middle East through sites like Migrant‑Rights.org, Mideast Tunes, CrowdVoice, and Ahwaa, where security, privacy, and anonymity are essential. In mid‑2018 Migrant‑Rights.org endured sustained DDoS attacks that caused prolonged downtime and prevented users from uploading content, putting vulnerable community members at risk of being silenced.
Majal was accepted into Cloudflare’s Project Galileo and received free enterprise‑grade DDoS protection and performance acceleration, which restored site reliability and stopped the outages. The solution protected users and preserved the organization’s limited resources—allowing Majal’s small volunteer team to focus on development, safety, and supporting its communities rather than costly security infrastructure.
