A Cloudflare Case Study
Karma Insurance is a Quebec-based insurtech startup that built an online platform to let Canadians shop and buy life insurance without meeting a broker in person. Limited engineering resources and a strict regulatory environment forced the team to replace a complex in‑house infrastructure plan with a vendor that could meet requirements like Canadian data centers, DNSSEC, strict SSL, IPv6/HTTP/2, authenticated origin pulls, a transparent firewall and customizable caching.
Karma chose Cloudflare as a single‑vendor solution with POPs in Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver, combining CDN, DNSSEC and security features in one package. The result was dramatically faster, more reliable quotes (latencies reduced from competitors’ up to 5 seconds to about 20 ms), simplified compliance by keeping data in‑jurisdiction and reduced attack surface through consolidated security controls.
