Preview of the Jin Air Case Study

Jin Air blocks 99.96% of bot traffic with Cloudflare

Jin Air, a South Korean low-cost airline, faced a significant increase in malicious bot traffic, DDoS attacks, SQL injection attempts, and fake bookings that threatened passenger data and disrupted online ticket sales. Their previous security provider failed to adequately address these issues. Jin Air turned to Cloudflare and its partner Megazone Cloud to implement a proof of concept for Cloudflare's Application Services, including WAF, Bot Management, DDoS Protection, and Rate Limiting.

By implementing Cloudflare's solution, Jin Air immediately blocked 99.96% of malicious bot traffic and secured its site against fake bookings. The solution also reduced the airline's bandwidth consumption by 51%, leading to direct operational savings. Furthermore, Cloudflare's performance services, including CDN and Smart Routing, improved connection speeds to key international markets, which helped increase ticket sales. Based on this success, Jin Air plans to explore additional Cloudflare Zero Trust services.
