Irish Cancer Society cuts web response times by 60% with Cloudflare

The Irish Cancer Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients, faced the challenge of ensuring 100% website availability and fast response times during its peak annual fundraising event, Daffodil Day. After previous solutions failed during traffic spikes, they turned to Cloudflare for assistance with performance and security just weeks before the event.

Cloudflare implemented its CDN, Web Application Firewall (WAF), and Page Rules to cache content and redirect donor traffic, keeping critical information services online. As a result, the Irish Cancer Society handled twice the traffic of the previous year with 60% faster web response times. Cloudflare's WAF also eliminated nearly €6,000 in annual credit card fraud costs. The society continues to leverage Cloudflare through the Project Galileo program.
