Case Study: Orderbird achieves DDoS protection and 100% POS uptime with Cloudflare

A Cloudflare Case Study

Preview of the Orderbird Case Study

How orderbird uses Cloudflare to protect their POS system

orderbird, founded in 2011, provides POS solutions to over 10,000 restaurants, cafés, bars and similar venues across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. In December 2016 a major DDoS attack knocked their backend offline during a critical holiday period, disrupting customer operations and forcing the company to urgently rethink its infrastructure and security.

Within days orderbird migrated to AWS and deployed Cloudflare’s security and performance stack—WAF, DDoS protection, CDN, Load Balancing, Managed DNS and Rate Limiting—while using Cloudflare Logs and analytics for operational insight. The result: Cloudflare blocks roughly 1,500 threats per month, orderbird has seen zero successful DDoS attacks since 2017, and the company maintains low latency and 100% uptime at the edge while making data-driven scaling decisions.
