ezCater, the largest U.S. marketplace for business catering with 80,000+ restaurants and 155+ million people served, faced two urgent security challenges: move toward a Zero Trust model to support a suddenly remote, globally distributed workforce without the complexity of a VPN, and stop increasingly frequent malicious bot attacks that were being handled with time-consuming manual blocklists.

ezCater deployed Cloudflare Access (integrated with its SSO) to provide VPN‑less Zero Trust access for ~600 employees and implemented Cloudflare WAF and Bot Management to automate bot defenses with ML-driven Bot Scores and tailored risk profiles. The result: no VPN hire required, simpler security rules, protection from over 1.5 million daily attacks, and savings equivalent to one full‑time employee so the team can focus on growing the business.
