A Cloudflare Case Study
Estonian Railways, a state-owned critical infrastructure provider managing Estonia's railway system, faced challenges with IT complexity and heightened cyber risks from legacy systems and geopolitical threats. They sought to modernize security by adopting a Zero Trust model, simplify IT management, and improve visibility into cloud application usage. To address these goals, they turned to Cloudflare's connectivity cloud and Security Service Edge (SSE) platform.
By implementing Cloudflare's Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), secure web gateway, CASB, and remote browser isolation, Estonian Railways gained better control and visibility over application access. The solution provided secure access for hybrid workers, mitigated data loss from SaaS applications, and consolidated web application services like DDoS protection, CDN, and WAF. Cloudflare's network also reduced latency by processing traffic locally. The results included a stronger security posture, reduced technical complexity, and a foundation for evolving to a SASE architecture.
