DI.FM Eliminates Egress Costs Using Backblaze and Cloudflare’s Bandwidth Alliance

Digitally Imported (DI.FM) is a long-running online radio service offering 90+ specialized electronic music channels to a global audience. Facing the need to reliably stream from colocated origin servers, DI.FM wanted predictable pricing and to avoid high storage and data‑transfer/egress fees that many cloud vendors charge while maintaining low latency for listeners worldwide.

By joining the Bandwidth Alliance and pairing Backblaze B2 storage with Cloudflare’s global CDN and security services, DI.FM eliminated egress fees, cut storage costs (Backblaze at about one‑quarter the cost of S3), and delivered content from Cloudflare’s network across 190+ cities in 90 countries. The result: tune‑in latency improved by up to 300 ms, integrated security for site and APIs, and a scalable, cost‑efficient streaming platform.
