The Department of Seine‑et‑Marne needed to quickly roll out public WiFi across its 129 state secondary schools while protecting networks from the security risks of students’ personal devices and keeping management simple and scalable. Officials sought an out‑of‑the‑box solution that would optimize hotspot capacity, filter harmful content, and require minimal ongoing admin as internet use and cyber threats grew.

Working with DC Communication and Cambium Networks, the department deployed Cloudflare Gateway—integrated with Active Directory and a Stormshield captive portal—to secure and manage school traffic. The rollout blocked malicious sites and attacks with little admin overhead, supported up to 300 devices per school, improved internal team efficiency, and delivered reliable, high‑performance public WiFi across all schools.
