Case Study: SIXT achieves bot-attack prevention and improved reliability with Cloudflare

A Cloudflare Case Study

Preview of the SIXT Case Study

Cloudflare helps SIXT stop bot attacks and build proactive security defenses

SIXT, a global mobility provider based near Munich offering rental, car-sharing, ride-hailing and subscription services across roughly 110 countries, was hit by daily price‑scraping bot attacks that degraded website and app performance and blocked overnight upgrades and testing. Their prior mitigation couldn’t respond quickly enough or distinguish malicious bots from legitimate partner automation, leaving systems overtaxed and engineers scrambling.

SIXT implemented Cloudflare Bot Management alongside Cloudflare WAF, CDN, Rate Limiting and Cloudflare Workers. Bot Management immediately stopped the daily attacks, eliminated downtime, allowed overnight maintenance, and cut infrastructure and staffing costs; its analytics exposed partner overuse so SIXT could address it constructively. Workers let engineers augment existing code at the edge instead of rewriting monoliths, while the WAF provided fast IP controls—enabling a more proactive, scalable security posture that SIXT plans to expand across more assets.
