A Cloudflare Case Study
Chrono24, one of the world’s largest online marketplaces for luxury watches (accessible via 46 regional domains, 22 languages, 500k+ daily visitors and over 475,000 listings), struggled with poor performance and service from separate CDN and security vendors. Users in Japan and Australia experienced high latency, the security vendor’s analytics and support were inadequate, and maintaining two providers was costly and operationally complex.
Chrono24 consolidated performance and security on Cloudflare’s CDN, WAF, and DDoS mitigation, benefiting from straightforward deployment and strong support. The move cut website security and performance costs by about two-thirds, improved global page speeds (site speed in Japan up 35%; average page download time fell from 4.2s to 2s), and Cloudflare now blocks roughly 1.4 million threats per month while providing actionable security analytics.
