A Cloudflare Case Study
Canva, the $6 billion Australian graphic‑design platform used by over 35 million people worldwide, needed to scale globally while keeping its in‑browser service fast and secure. As the company grew and added employees and third‑party developers, IT faced challenges around secure remote access, identity management, massive bandwidth (about four petabytes/month), SEO and mobile performance, and persistent image‑scraping bot attacks.
Canva adopted a broad suite of Cloudflare products—Cloudflare Access for secure, centralized remote app access (eliminating the need to build an IAM), Cloudflare Workers for edge serverless logic, caching and SEO/mobile optimizations, Bot Management to block scraping, and image resizing for mobile. The result: simpler and more secure access and onboarding, faster pages and better SEO, reduced malicious traffic and operational cost/time savings, and a scalable platform that supports Canva’s global expansion.
