A Cloud Pro Case Study
Marks & Spencer, the high street retailer, needed a better way to manage rapidly growing storage and data demands so it could keep orders flowing and shelves stocked on time. As its infrastructure grew more complex, performance and stability were affected, operational costs rose, and the company risked slowdowns or outages in its order processing systems.
Cloud Pro helped Marks & Spencer migrate to Hitachi Data Systems’ Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) G1000, using two hybrid-flash systems to transform the infrastructure. The project moved 750TB of data across 6,000 virtual machines and 180 IBM AIX partitions, cutting the device footprint by 75%, reducing storage acquisition costs by more than 30%, and lowering operational IT expenses by 50%. Overnight food order processing also improved by 35%, consistently beating deadlines by over two hours.
