How Vodafone leverages Kubernetes to meet its digital strategy goals

Vodafone, a global telecommunications company, faced challenges with its legacy software systems, which were heavily customized, not automated, and lacked efficiency and portability. To meet its digital strategy goals of delivering the best customer experience across 25 markets, Vodafone partnered with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and adopted Kubernetes as an orchestration platform.

By implementing the Cloud Native Computing Foundation's Kubernetes platform, Vodafone moved from 97% outsourced software development skills to 95% in-house. The solution enabled tens of software releases per day, a massive increase from the previous cadence of once every three months. This resulted in significantly improved sales and marketing KPIs, a large increase in online sales, and more data-driven digital marketing.
