JanSport, the long-established backpack and collegiate apparel brand, needed to improve conversions for the 60% of customers who visit on mobile. Despite strong mobile traffic, mobile revenues lagged, so the e-commerce team set out to minimize redesign risk and create a mobile-first homepage that would deliver a smooth, high-converting experience.
Partnering with Clicktale, JanSport used behavioral analytics to redesign the homepage (smaller hero, four prominent category tiles) and test one flow at a time. The result: mobile conversions up 21%, mobile homepage clickthroughs up 700%, 8x higher engagement with primary homepage messages, bounce rate down 8.4%, and a more efficient, customer-driven redesign process that also boosted desktop clickthroughs.
