Shawarmer, the Saudi Arabian quick-service restaurant brand with 160 locations, was struggling to make generic customer messages resonate in a crowded, highly competitive market. In early 2023, its e-commerce director looked for a better way to understand customer behavior and improve targeting, choosing CleverTap and its RFM-based segmentation and messaging capabilities to support more relevant engagement.
Using CleverTap’s ML-driven RFM segmentation, Shawarmer built occasion-based campaigns across owned channels like push, in-app messages, email, and WhatsApp to target key meal occasions and at-risk customers with tailored offers. The results included a 9% uplift in overall sales, 15% of pickup channel sales driven by segment-based campaigns, 27% reactivation of inactive users, and 36% retention of customers at risk of churn.
