The Denver Broncos partnered with TopFan to build the Orange Herd app to keep one of the NFL’s largest fan bases connected year-round after their Super Bowl 50 run. TopFan needed to monetize and sustain engagement across free and VIP tiers—encouraging paid subscriptions without undermining free-user value—by identifying the right moments and messages to reach tens of thousands of fans.
Using CleverTap-powered mobile marketing automation, TopFan ran data-driven, personalized push campaigns (A/B tested and timed with “Pivots”) linking to polls, exclusive videos, promo codes and player interactions. The approach drove major gains: automated campaigns improved CTRs 8x (with some campaigns hitting up to 26%), week‑1 retention rose to 26% versus an 8% entertainment-app average, targeted promos achieved ~15% conversion, and subscription purchases surged (up to a 30x increase).
