Cardiovascular Practice Doubles Point-of-Service Collections at the Kiosk

Montgomery Cardiovascular Associates (MCA), an early adopter of self-service registration, needed a more robust check-in solution to provide real-time eligibility, collect copayments, handle consents, scan insurance cards and capture demographic/insurance updates. After trying another vendor, MCA selected Clearwave and went live with the Clearwave kiosk solution in July 2012 to integrate with their GE Centricity practice management system.

Clearwave implemented a phased kiosk integration (initially one-way, later inbound) that enabled automatic import of driver’s license and insurance card images, real-time insurance verification, demographic updates and payment posting — and added balance displays at the kiosk. The Clearwave solution cut front-desk manual effort, doubled point-of-service cash collections, achieved 98% real-time insurance verification, imported scans automatically, reached 78% kiosk utilization and reduced average check-in time to about 3 minutes 8 seconds.
