Case Study: Baptist Health achieves two-minute check-ins and improved patient engagement with Clearwave self-service kiosks

A Clearwave Case Study

Preview of the Baptist Health Case Study

Baptist Health CFO Katrina Belt gives the insider scoop on kiosk adoption and use by staff and patients

Baptist Health, a three-hospital faith-based system serving Central Alabama, faced an inefficient, stressful patient check-in process that took staff time away from direct patient care. After acquiring Montgomery Cancer Center—where self-service kiosks were already in use—Baptist Health chose Clearwave’s self-service kiosk registration and eligibility verification solution (deployed with hardware and imaging partners) to streamline check-in while preserving the personal touch of registration staff.

Clearwave’s kiosks, combined with durable terminals and OCR scanning, were rolled out across cancer and breast centers, imaging sites, physician practices and the emergency department, cutting average check-in time to 2 minutes 18 seconds across 412,000 patient interactions in the year referenced. The Clearwave-powered system automates document capture into the patient record, reduces duplicate records, and frees registrars to provide financial counseling and screening outreach—delivering clear time savings and improved frontline workflow without replacing staff.
