CYBG, the UK holding company behind Clydesdale Bank, Yorkshire Bank and Virgin Money UK (7,000 employees), faced deeply entrenched problems with its performance management—scorecard-driven processes, low manager capability and widespread employee resentment. After investing in a new management framework to teach managers continuous feedback and coaching, CYBG selected Clear Review’s clean, simple performance platform to replace rating-led appraisals and restore focus on meaningful, frequent conversations.
Clear Review’s platform was rolled out alongside the new framework, and within three months CYBG recorded +50,000 goals set, +17,000 pieces of feedback and +2,000 check‑in conversations, with adoption and manager advocacy high. The Clear Review system simplified performance to 1,000 team goals (vs 7,000 old scorecards), delivered richer real‑time metrics for early intervention and leadership insight, and helped CYBG win “Organisational Development of the Year” while naming Clear Review its “Be Ambitious” supplier.
