Gerald Eve moves from appraisal to coaching

Gerald Eve, a UK-based international property consultancy of about 600 people, had relied on a paper-based annual appraisal system with a mid-year check that became time-consuming, disengaging and offered little visibility on real-time performance or developmental conversations. HR Director Sarah Draper sought a modern alternative and selected Clear Review’s platform — a simple, coaching-focused performance and feedback tool designed to replace the annual appraisal with regular check-ins and real-time feedback.

Clear Review implemented a nudging, conversation-led framework (online and mobile) in May 2018 that removed the annual focal point and prompted coaching-style dialogue; adoption was high with minimal training. Since launch Gerald Eve users have set over 986 objectives, received 665 pieces of feedback and achieved 78% engagement in quarterly check-ins, improving clarity on goals, manager–employee development and board reporting — outcomes that supported wins such as Gerald Eve’s “Employer of the Year” at the EG Awards.
